Its Never A Good Time To Discuss “Black On Black Crime”

blackcommunityI recently read an article and the topic was  “Black On Black Crime”.  Now I am not here to prove nor do i have an hidden agenda. This is not about statistics , Black Loves Matter or any other organization. it is to bring attention to the plight of our youth in the black community  when it comes to guns, drugs, gang, violence and murder.
black-on-black-violenceRecently a 23 year old girl was shot and killed at a House Party in South Florida & i’m sure there were killings in black communities all over the the country this weekend. (Our prayers go out to the family & friends of the young lady that was murdered in Florida). *These are our Black sons and daughters, both young and old committing these murders. The killings i’m talking about are not committed by the police nor any of the people who we stand up to fight against and denounce.
Black-on-Black-CrimeI know a lot of you are the parents of men and women who have shot & killed people in our black communities. Some of your children are incarcerated or just came home from Prison after serving time for committing these killings. My prayers also go to you for the pain and suffering you experience as the parents of a child who has killed someone. The point of this writing is to start a discussion on how we can all do better to help our young people deal with the problems they encounter in the streets in other ways than grabbing a gun and killing someone.
Everyone has a theory & some even justify what the killers do as part of the life that they choose to lead. some say the streets , drugs, gangs , jealousy or hate is the reason so many people are shooting up our communities. And for those who say the Whites, the Latino’s or the Asians etc .are also killing in their communities or commit more crime than we do. That is not the point of this piece, they need to reach out to their young man and women as well.

I’m Jeff “Gatsby” Wilson the Administrator for 5 Facebook Groups and I think these tips are great ideas and that they will help you Manage your groups. #TeamGatsby

A Facebook group is a great way for your business or brand to engage with your customers on a personal level. Of course it also means that your customers will be engaging with each other – and this can cause serious problems. That is why today I’m going to share with you the 15 rules that need to become part of your group house rules.

The 15 Rules of Facebook Group Engagement

#1: There will be no cursing in this group – ever. That includes words like X, Y and Z. It also includes any statement that the group admin deems inappropriate in nature.

#2: Do not advertise your business on this group. We are not interested in your career, only in your opinions and relevant information as per the group guidelines. [Link to them]

#3: All opinions will be treated with mutual respect, unless they violate the aforementioned rules. Treat your fellow Facebook group members with that same respect.

#4: If a single individual starts a discussion that all other members disagree with, it may, at the discretion of the group admin, be considered trolling. Trolls will be booted out of the group.

#5: If a member personally attacks another member with words that are harmful, threatening or not in-line with our mutual respect policy, that member will receive a warning. Three warnings and you’re out.

#6: Please stick to the mission statement of this Facebook group. Irrelevant content does not belong here it belongs on other pages. See our compiled list here. [Add links to other groups]

#7: Do not post graphic or disturbing photos, videos and other media in this group. If you are not sure about the content that you want to post, email the group admin [insert email].

#8: If someone mentions you by name please respond directly to that person on the same post. If the comment is inflammatory please report it to the group admin.

#9: Think before you post! This is Facebook, one of the biggest sites on the internet – what goes up can never really come down. Respect the privacy of others!

#10: Be aware that posting more than 5 discussions on the same day needs to be justified to the group admin, or it will be considered spam.

#11: It is considered impolite to repost or draw attention to the fact that a group admin or another member has deleted your comment.

#12: If you are going to comment, we would prefer it if you could try and add valuable discussion to the conversation. Be friendly, be fair and use common sense.

#13: The Facebook group admin is entitled to deny entry to any member they choose. They are also allowed to boot out members that don’t comply with the house rules.

#14: For any [specific] inquiries please refer to the website address and telephone numbers on the cover photo. This is just the Facebook group, not the business itself!

#15: When you share attachments in our Facebook group please make sure that your settings are on ‘public’ or no-one will be able to see your attachment.

These professional rules will keep your Facebook group functioning like a well-oiled machine. Add them to your house rules document, as a crucial part of your Facebook strategy in the coming months.

The Misty Copeland Ballerina Barbie Is Coming — Here’s Why It’s So Awesome

Story courtesy of mic.com Mic May 2, 2016

History-making ballerina Misty Copeland will be receiving a Barbie doll in her honor, according to ABC News.

Copeland’s doll will be a part of the Barbie Sheroes program, which honors, “female heroes who inspire girls by breaking boundaries and expanding possibilities for women everywhere,” according to a press release.

Mattel felt like Copeland was “at the center of a cultural conversation around how women continue to break boundaries,” Lisa McKnight, who is senior vice president of Barbie, said in a press release. “As a brand, we want to honor women, like Misty, who are inspiring the next generation of girls to live out their dreams,” she added.

Other Sheroes dolls are Zendaya, Emmy Rossum and Eva Chen.

“I always dreamed of becoming an ABT ballerina and through Barbie I was able to play out those dreams early on,” Copeland said. “It’s an honor to be able to inspire the next generation of kids with my very own Barbie doll.”

Copeland’s doll will wear her Firebird costume, which was her first as a principal dancer at the American Ballet Theater, according to ABC News.

Last July, Copeland became the New York’s theater’s very first black female principal dancer, which was revolutionary, since ballet remains a field where racial diversity is lacking. “It’s important for me to set an example of what a healthy image is, what a ballerina can be — that she doesn’t have to be a white woman that’s rail-thin,” Copeland told Time in April 2015.

Afeni Shakur, mother of hip-hop legend Tupac, dead at 69

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Afeni Shakur, mother of Tupac, dead at 69
NY Daily News

Afeni Shakur Davis, mother of late rap legend Tupac Shakur who was the subject of one of his most iconic songs and who oversaw his posthumous legacy, has died. She was 69 years old.

Marin County deputies responded to Shakur’s home in Sausalito, Calif., Monday night after she suffered a possible cardiac arrest, the sheriff’s office said Tuesday morning. She was taken to a local hospital and died just before 10:30 p.m.

Shakur, born Alice Faye Williams, changed her name when she moved to New York City and joined the Black Panther movement. She and other party members were arrested in 1969 and charged with conspiracy to bomb multiple, busy city landmarks.

In May 1971, she was acquitted on all charges — and she gave birth to Tupac just one month later.

She was the subject of his 1995 song “Dear Mama,” in which Tupac detailed his childhood struggles and respect for his mother.

“There’s no way I can pay you back/But the plan is to show you that I understand/You are appreciated,” he rapped.

LOVE LETTER TUPAC SHAKUR PENNED IN HIGH SCHOOL SELLING FOR $35K

After her son’s 1996 shooting death, Shakur took over the late rapper’s estate, which reportedly earns about $900,000 each year.

Earlier this year, she filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years, Gust Davis, and was allegedly in a legal battle over the fortune, TMZ reported. Davis demanded half of the monthly $20,000 Shakur took home every month.

In 2014, Shakur co-produced “Holler If Ya Hear Me,” a Broadway jukebox musical featuring her son’s works.

A movie about Tupac’s life, “All Eyez on Me,” is set for release in November, with Danai Gurira cast as Shakur. Shakur served as an executive producer for the film.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office will lead the investigation to determine the cause and manner of Shakur’s death.
